St Andrew Parish rewards children with
Bank accounts.
The St.
Andrew Parish in an effort to recognize,
reward and encourage our children to strive
for excellence has instituted from 2006, a
reward program for children who have been
successful at their National Grade Six
Assessment Exam (previously referred to
Secondary School Entrance Examination). In so
doing, the Parish has taken the initiative to
establish Right Start accounts (accounts for
children) at the Republic Bank with an initial
deposit of three ($3,000.00) each. Paramount
to this initiative was the idea of teaching
our children to be good stewards of their
resources, learning responsibility of managing
(and handling) their own finances at an early
age (and of course a good marketing pitch for
Republic Bank).
Last year,
the parish presented fourteen accounts which
were accompanied by personalized Certificates
and Club Cards for each child. The Club cards
entitle the children to discounts on school
supplies and uniforms at various merchants
across the country.
